A Perfect Date Night at Col’Cacchio: Italian Flavours with a Modern Twist!

We were recently invited for a date night at Col’Cacchio to try some of their most beloved dishes.

Established in 1992, Col’Cacchio has built a reputation as a go-to spot for those craving handcrafted pizzas, hearty pastas, and fresh salads, all made with top high-quality ingredients and a touch of Italian flair.

On this particular evening, we decided to let our taste buds explore a combination of hearty as well as fresh & light dishes.

Appetizers

The melanzane was our first taste of what makes Col’Cacchio special. Layers of fior di latte mozzarella melted perfectly over tender aubergine, creating a satisfying combination of textures. Topped with Italian parmesan and enveloped in a rich, tangy pomodoro sauce, this dish was pure comfort—a warm embrace in every bite, with the ingredients allowed to shine through their simplicity and quality.

In contrast, the beetroot carpaccio offered a refreshing, lighter start. Thinly sliced beetroot provided an earthy base, while peppery rocket and creamy Danish feta added freshness. The pumpkin seed brittle brought an unexpected crunch and sweetness, while the balsamic vinaigrette tied it all together with a lovely balance of sweet and sharp, making this a beautifully vibrant dish both in colour and flavour.

Mains

For mains, we were eager to try one of Col’Cacchio’s iconic pizzas. The green genie pizza stood out not only for its inventive use of ingredients but for how well each element worked together. The crispy base was generously topped with creamy avo, roasted beetroot & butternut, garlic, and shiitake mushrooms, creating a delicious harmony of sweet, savory, and earthy flavors. Feta and Italian parmesan added richness, while a variety of seeds—pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower—provided a delightful occasional crunch. The balsamic glaze brought a subtle sweetness that rounded out the pizza perfectly, making it incredibly satisfying.

We also ordered the gnocchi formaggio, which was a decadent dish that didn’t shy away from rich, comforting flavours. The gnocchi were soft and pillowy, served in a creamy blue cheese sauce that was perfectly balanced by the freshness of baby spinach. Finished with a generous sprinkling of Italian parmesan, the dish was indulgent without being too heavy, leaving us with that warm, satisfied feeling only a good plate of gnocchi can provide.

Dessert

To end the evening on a sweet note, we shared the Italian kisses. This dessert, with its hazelnut and caramel kisses drizzled with a Bar One and salted caramel sauce, was a fantastic end to our meal. The combination of sweet and salty flavors, coupled with the smooth, creamy texture of the ice-cream, made it a perfect treat to share.

Col’Cacchio delivered an unforgettable date night experience. The food was nothing short of exceptional, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The attentive service and inviting atmosphere only added to the charm, making us feel welcome and looked after throughout the evening.
