At the heart of the festival lies the prestigious Gr 1 SplashOut Cape Derby, a 2000-meter classic race for three-year-old thoroughbreds. A cornerstone event of the Cape Summer Season, the race has seen champions such as Dynasty, Jet Master, and Rabiya claim victory. The 2024 edition saw Green With Envy, trained by Dean Kannemeyer and ridden by Craig Zackey, take the title. As the 2025 edition approaches, anticipation is building for another exhilarating showdown on the turf.
