This Mother’s Day, Vrede en Lust has collaborated with Masterchef Season 4 finalist and owner of ‘n Mondvol, to bring a unique experience to the farm.
Andriette de la Harpe is the owner of ‘n Mondvol, which is so much more than just a bakery. ‘n Mondvol celebrates unique baked goods with a personal touch that adds value to the client. Andriette strives to use as many locally produced ingredients as possible and supports other local businesses where she can.

Find out what makes these desserts so unique:
’n Mondvol Lindt Chocolate Brownie:
’n Mondvol ’s Lindt Chocolate Brownie is a rich, dark chocolate “Melt in your mouth” experience. ’n Mondvol brownie has the perfect balance of bitter and sweet, celebrating the decadent Lindt 75% dark chocolate. Each bite brings more to your palate, adding layers and depth resulting in the surrender that one brownie will never be enough.
’n Mondvol Lemon Meringue
’n Mondvol Lemon Meringue, made out of freshly pressed organic lemon juice & zest, sugar, water, and eggs, coming together to form the most delectable Lemon curd. It is within these purest of local ingredients, that the combination of the sweet, tangy, sour, bitter, and salty curd, combined with the crunch of the coconut biscuit pastry, topped with fresh Italian Meringue will leave you salivating for more.
’n Mondvol Carrot Cake
Described by Chef Gregory Czarnecki during Masterchef SA Season 4,” This is pure happiness, pure happiness.” Andriette made her debut with this moist, perfectly balanced Carrot Cake on Masterchef Season 4. Freshly grated carrots, accompanied by the South African favourite spice combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, truly makes you reminisce Sunday afternoon “Koek en tee”.
To accompany the above, they’ve carefully selected ideal wines that marry the experience:
Sarah Bubbly By Nature 2021
Sarah was named after farm owner Dana Buys’ daughter and was created to celebrate the lively and sparkling personality of Sarah. Sarah embodies pure fruit, bright acidity, and a fine mousse of tiny bubbles. Sarah is made from the first grapes the cellar receives during harvest, a blend of grapes from Vrede en Lust’s two farms located on the Simonsberg and Casey’s Ridge in Elgin.
Barrique Flagship White Blend 2019
Barrique has been produced at the Vrede en Lust farm since 2009. This versatile white blend showcases an ideal synergy between Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc with the complexity of Semillon coming through as it ages. Barrique is elegantly balanced with lingering mineral notes and showcases a classic blend of the two grapes to produce a wine that is easily the perfect food partner. All grapes are harvested off the cool climate Elgin farm Casey’s Ridge that Vrede en Lust procured in 2005.
Boet Erasmus Flagship Red Blend 2017
This elegant Bordeaux Style red wine pays homage to the grandfather of Dana & Etienne Buys and bears testament to his poise, character, and stature. Boet Erasmus showcases grapes that are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks before maturing in French Oak Barrels for 18 months. Ripe and supple fruit gives way to a mouthful of polished tannins with a balanced oak that lingers. Boet Erasmus is an Estate wine from the Simonsberg reflecting the impressive terroir of the region.
The Mother’s Day experience is available from 5 to 8 May at the Tasting Room at R200 per person for three dessert tasters and three glasses of wine. Bookings are required via Dineplan.
