We’ve recently had the opportunity to enjoy the Kloof Street House lockdown menu. If you haven’t seen what’s on offer yet, you’re in for one big treat.
Kloof Street House definitely makes the list of our all-time favourite restaurants here on FoodBlogCT. It’s hidden away behind a high wall within a lovely garden where you don’t feel like you’re sitting in the middle of a busy town, but rather in someone’s beautiful home out in Constantia. Offering a fine dining menu that we still rave about today, I was excited to see what’s available for home deliveries during the lockdown.
Fine Dining and Take-aways often don’t make it into the same sentence. Usually, you have to piece together your burger lettuce by lettuce, the chips have spilled out of their container, and the soup has splashed all over the place. Ordering take-out can be a pain especially if you are used to the service that Kloof Street House is well known for.
But you can be rest assured, that Kloof Street House knows what they’re doing and are staying true to their values even when it comes to home deliveries. Every single aspect has been well-thought out from the robust delivery package, marked food boxes, branded napkins, and staff that take utmost care when delivering your food in manner that keeps it presentable while looking after your health & safety as well.
What’s on the Menu?
The lockdown menu is available every Monday – Sunday from 12h00 – 19h00 and boasts an impressive selection of starters and mains that we’ve all come to love over the past few years. Crunchy and fresh salads as well as deliciously sweet desserts also make it onto the exciting menu.
In addition, they are offering a fantastic lunch special where two courses are being offered for only R135. We love a good restaurant special and ordered the sweet potato soup as well as the famous KSH burger.
Sweet Potato Soup
Soups are perfect for winter. And I do love a bit of heat. This lightly curried sweet potato soup did the trick for me as a wonderful start to the lunch. Not too hot, but also nothing that would take away from the flavour of the sweet potato, I really enjoyed it. The soup was served with a two slices of fresh coriander toast to add a bit of crunch.
KSH Burger
You can always taste the difference in quality when you are biting into a grass fed beef burger patty. Juicy and flavourful, a great burger doesn’t need that many toppings. Some fontina cheese doesn’t feel out of place and adds a subtle buttery and nutty flavour while the tomato aioli, pickles, onions and mushroom relish gives the burger a bit more complexity. Simply Delicious. The burger was served with a big portion of thick cut chips on the side.
At R135, the lunch special is fantastic value for money and proof that you can still enjoy a fancy meal with excellent service and personal touches, even during Corona times. Be it for lunch or maybe a romantic date night at home, I can only recommend Kloof Street House while we all have to live with the lockdown restrictions.
