Brookdale’s Kiara Scott Farmer crowned 2024 Diners Club Winemaker of the Year!

Kiara Scott Farmer’s tenure at Brookdale Estate is ending on a high note after she was crowned 2024 Diners Club Winemaker of the Year for her 2022 vintage of Brookdale Estate’s Old Vine Chenin Blanc, that was judged to be the best in the category of Chenin Blanc.

Since joining the young, innovative Paarl wine estate, working alongside consultant winemaker Duncan Savage and later, as appointed winemaker from October 2019, Kiara has been instrumental in the successes achieved by Brookdale.

This includes winning the coveted Rosa Kruger Trophy for best Old Vine Wine with the 2020 vintage of the Brookdale Estate Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2020, which took Gold with a top score of 97/100 in the Trophy Wine Show of 2022.

Brookdale proprietor Tim Rudd says that it is a bitter-sweet moment for Brookdale.

‘We are incredibly proud of Kiara and what she has achieved at Brookdale over the past five years. It has been a real pleasure to create a platform for Kiara’s talent as winemaker and a launching pad for her blossoming career, and so it is fitting that her Brookdale chapter concludes with this phenomenal accolade.Congratulations and thank you Kiara – we wish you everything of the best with your future endeavours!’
