Security cameras capture more than just robberies, fights and car accidents. They also film sweet, everyday moments of people living their lives. It’s those happy moments Coca-Cola highlights in a new advertisement that wants viewers to “look at the world a little differently.
We want to remind people that acts of kindness and bravery are taking place around them all the time! – Coca Cola
Though the ad ties in nicely with Coke’s “Open Happiness” campaign, which features other such scenes of spontaneous delight from around the globe, not everyone has been won over. The Youtube video has nearly hit five million views with 40000 likes and about 1000 dislikes while the comments vary greatly from being positive to negative. My opinion: If this video doesn’t put a smile on your face, then I don’t know what will!
I thought this video was about how good the world is … until I realize [it’s] just Coca Cola using viral videos to market their company and make more money,” – Youtube comment
But the question still begs: Are these real people going about their daily lives or are these clips staged?
Mashable talked to a Coke Rep who stated that while many of the clips in the ad are real, “there are a few clips that, while the situation is real, we had to recreate for the ad because it was impossible to find and secure permissions from all the people recorded on the cameras.”
