Top 5 Wines to try from Weltevrede Wine Estate
Lemon Zest Chardonnay (R75 per bottle)
These warm spring days are perfect for unwooded Chardonnay. Lemon Zest is a great start for anyone exploring the Chardonnay cultivar. It’s lively and fresh without the traditional heaviness of over-extracted wooded Chardonnays.
Turkish Delight (R75 per bottle)
For any vintage of Turkish Delight, Weltevrede use 2 or 3 of the following cultivars: Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer and Muscadel. For the 2021 vintage they found that a blend of Pinot Noir gave them those elegant flavours that you love: Flavours of Litchi, Strawberry and Turkish Delight!.
Cherrychoc Merlot (R85 per bottle)
The colour is deep red. On the nose you get prominent notes of ripe cherries and chocolate. The mid-palate is chunky with intense flavours of cherries, plums, bitter espresso and a pleasant dry finish of black pepper and dark chocolate.
The Ring | Blanc de Blancs (R260 per bottle)
Toast and fresh hay aromas immediately waft from the glass, with supporting notes of red apple and spiced orange peel. Round and full in the mouth, it has good mousse and a soft honeyed accent that carries through onto the finish.
Weltevrede 1912 Shiraz
This Shiraz has a deep red colour. On the nose you get an intense mixture of spice, cured meats and tobacco. The palate reveals plums, glazed gammon and black pepper with a long smokey finish and a silky mouthfeel.
