For a gourmet experience with a greater purpose, book your place at one of the Refugee Food Festival events, starting this week!
The Refugee Food Festival is an international initiative hosted by major cities around the world. It aims to welcome refugee chefs into renowned restaurant kitchens, in the name of unity and embracing culinary diversity.
The festival spans 10 days with different exciting dinners and events around Cape Town. Join Ginger & Lime to gain some insight into Vegetarian East African cooking with Chef Jane and Chef Ibrahim on the 18th of June. Alternatively, explore Angolan and Congolese cuisine with experts Chef Patrick and Chef David; learn about new flavours and cooking techniques and enjoy a delicious meal with great company on the 23rd of June.
A highlight of the festival will surely be a night at Reverie Social Table as they embrace Congolese cooking with Chef John. Always a fun dining experience, Reverie encourages open conversation and leisurely dining, without the usual distraction of electronic devices. Chef John will join Reverie’s Julia in sharing a menu that pays homage to his mom’s cooking.
Look forward to a 5-course meal with wine, taking place at 7 30 pm on Saturday, the 23rd of June. Bound to be a special night, make sure to book in advance.
