Burger King here, there and everywhere.
Three Burger King stores are already open. First was the one in town, then Tygervalley and finally, the new one at Cavendish. And burger king have recently announced that they have partnered with Sasol petrol stations. But haven’t yet stated how many stations will be included in the expansion.
FUTURELIFE cereal products are going GMO-free. It will actually be the first functional food products to make the change in SA, but they insist that the taste won’t change, and neither will the price. You will be able to see the new range on the shelves over the next few months
Talking about GMOs – Lab Meat.
Big on the social medias this week was that scientists at Maastricht University have spawned a lab grown burger, which in very simple terms was grown in a petri dish using cells from the biopsy of a cow. The burger has cost 250,000 Euros to make, all paid for by the co-founder of Google, Sergey Brin. The study has interesting consequences for our future, like less methane produced by cows we farm, and animal welfare vegetarians could probably start eating meat again. But it is going to be a while before I can afford one of them

Cabrito
El Burro has just opened its bar, Cabrito, downstairs from the Greenpoint restaurant.
You can expect to find lots of tequila, about 26 craft beers (Citizen Alliance, Citizen Sabotuer, &union Steph Weiss, Jack Black Lager are all on tap), cocktails are limited to Margaritas and Polomas for now, as well as wines by the glass. Bar snacks include Chilli Rellenos, Nachos & salsa, biltong, dry wors, but will soon be expanding to a range of Mexican snacks. They’re open daily, from 3pm ‘til late.
