Setting out on a quest to create ‘The Best Burger’, the owners of Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers and Ribs visited the top burger joints in the ‘Burger Capitals of the World’ – Chicago, New York and Las Vegas, and then tapped into the expertise of Belthazar’s Master Butcher, and feedback from hundreds of burger tastings with colleagues, friends and customers. The result was the creation of ‘The Ultimate Burger’, proudly showcased at their gleaming new restaurant, Gibson’s – a cool and trendy joint next door to Belthazar at the V&A Waterfront, specialising in gourmet burgers and ribs.
Made from grain-fed beef, their juicy 200g burgers are firstly flame-grilled with lashings of their secret basting, and then placed on a home-baked, toasted sesame-seed bun, crowned with shredded lettuce, sun-ripened tomato, caramelised onions, cucumber and drizzled with their No 6 Creamy Sauce. All this deliciousness is served with a choice of thick-cut fries (potato, sweet potato or half-and-half).
Gibson’s offers great value for money with all chicken and beef burgers priced between R85 and R140, including a choice of thick-cut fries or baked potato. However, if you’re up for something a little more sophisticated, you’ve got a selection of seven sensational ‘Designer Burgers’, such as the Game Burger made from freshly-ground ostrich, the Lamb Burger served with a side of mint sauce or the Mr Chutney Burger. Vegetarians are catered for as well can bite into a Giant Mushroom Burger or an Eastern Burger made with blended lentils, chick peas, fresh vegetables and aromatic spices.
For the beer aficionado, Gibson’s has an assortment of slow-brewed artisanal beers, while wine connoisseurs will feel at home with the selection of 12 premium House Wines sourced by Belthazar’s Head Sommelier, James Pietersen.
