Savour fine wines and tuck into flame grilled tapas when Grande Provence embraces Braai4Heritage during the annual Franschhoek Uncorked Festival on the weekend of 24 – 25 September 2016.
As one of the participating wineries, Grande Provence will offer Franschhoek Uncorked ticket holders complimentary tastings of their easy drinking Grande Provence Rosé and Angels Tears Red.
Tastings of the full range of Grande Provence wines are available in the tasting room. If you are a serious wine enthusiast, be sure to pre-book for a flagship tasting with winemaker Matthew van Heerden in the elegantly appointed Jonkershuis from 11h00 to 11h30 at R150 per person on both days.
Executive Chef Darren Badenhorst has designed a special tapas heritage menu prepared over an open flame with his signature twist of unexpected bursts of flavour.
Think BBQ beef brisket with truffled pommes puree and wild mushrooms; or a salad of grilled Patagonian baby squid with smoked red pepper couscous and vineyard herbs. As an alternative, the mini tartlets of salted caramel and white chocolate ganache, lime and burnt hazelnut meringue and a wild berry and spearmint should satisfy any sweet tooth.
For an even more relaxed stay, visitors can order pre-packed picnic baskets or cheese boards to enjoy with views of the beautiful Sculpture Garden and surrounding mountains.
Weekend passes for Franschhoek Uncorked are R140 per person and can be pre-booked at www.webtickets.co.za. Visit www.franschhoekuncorked.co.za for more details. The tapas at Grande Provence is available from R75 per serving. The picnic baskets are R325 or R295 per person sharing.
