Culture Connect’s curated experience around the Heart of Cape Town Museum, Sat 28 May, starts at 10h30am and finishes with lunch at the new Reverie, Social Table, 2pm.
The tour of the Groote Schuur hospital is in the wards where the first successful human heart transplant all happened. The guide is the delightful Dene Friedmann, who was one of the perfusionists in the original team in 1967. – She worked with Prof Christian Bernard for 17 years until his retirement in 1983. The Museum is rich with original equipment, correspondence and architectural details designed in the Sir Herbert Baker style. All guests will watch two short films and hear many facets to this incredible medical break-through.
After the tour, you will have lunch nearby at Reverie. With its delicious fresh food and long table, informal atmosphere and understated style, it is a perfect place to connect and discuss what we have seen.
There are still places available; R400 early birds pre 20 May, then R500 (R650 on the day); children half price (over 10 years recommended). This includes Museum entry fee, guide’s costs, three course lunch served with De Meye Wine and a detailed pre-briefing.
