Never one to colour between the lines, Hendrick’s Gin is celebrating the start of the summer season and Gin O’Clock, with something spectacularly different.
Hendrick’s, the world’s most wonderful premium, hand-crafted gin, has created the gin cocktail of all gin cocktails, a unique concoction that will be made only three times, valued at R40 000 each…
This unbelievable cocktail features only the most incredible ingredients, and has been made in conjunction with brands including Ardmore Ceramic Art, Barker and Quin Tonic Water, and Svalbardi Polar Iceberg Water. With only three of these cocktails being produced, each served in a beautiful, bespoke Ardmore Ceramic goblet, they will only be available at three locations: the Mount Nelson in Cape Town, the Oyster Box in Umhlanga, and Marble in Johannesburg.
Our partners are simply among the best in their fields; Ardmore Ceramic Art has produced exceptionally beautiful and unusual artworks that are sought after the world over, Svalbardi Polar Iceberg Water is the world’s best and purest water, extracted from the glaciers of Norway and carefully bottled and shipped around the world, and Barker and Quin produce unique South African tonic water. – Shaun Stemmett, brand manager for Hendrick’s Gin South Africa.
The creation of this exceptional cocktail celebrates the brand values Hendrick’s is known for – unusual, premium, small batch, and hand-crafted – while launching Hendrick’s Gin O’Clock summer season programme. Once again, they are bringing the Hendrick’s Gin O’Clock experience to South Africa, with 40 bars and restaurants participating, serving a selection of Hendrick’s Gin cocktails. So if forty grand is a bit too steep for your budget, don’t fret, you can still sip on delightfully delicious Hendrick’s cocktails this summer.
They have also brought back their much-loved Hendrick’s Gin Tea Cup Gift Pack, available in all leading liquour outlets, which feature three different tea cup designs for gin connoisseurs to collect. More on THE Cocktail:
The Something Marvellously Unusual cocktail will be served in a Ardmore Ceramic Art goblet, which was inspired by the animal illustrations found within the Hendrick’s Gin brand. A multi-layered sensory expedition, Hendrick’s Gin is mixed with a vermouth that has been hand crafted using a Klein Constantia Vin De Constance wine, a variety of rare and expensive botanicals and spices, and fortified using Hennessey XO.
A special batch of unusual tonic water has been crafted by Barker and Quin for the cocktail, this tonic water comprises of a wealth of South African botanicals and the purest water in the world, Svalbardi Polar Iceberg Water. Specially crafted tonic water bottles have also been made for the occasion, created by Consol to perfectly compliment the Hendrick’s Gin bottle. Only twelve of these bottles of tonic water are in existence.
With cucumber being a crucial component to Hendrick’s Gin, they have taken the quest for the perfect cucumber to compliment this cocktail very seriously. The cucumbers were created specially for the Hendrick’s Gin “Something Marvellously Unusual” cocktail by cucumber farmer extraordinaire, Nico Laubscher. They are a variety of the Kaspian cucumber, a rare, non-commercial cucumber with a more intense flavour than your ordinary cucumber.
Developed by their master mixologist Marson Strydom, the “Something Marvellously Unusual” cocktail comprises a variety of rare ingredients. An unusual take on the Hendrick’s and Tonic; the cocktail’s flavour notes are Rose and Cucumber, the two flavours perfectly infused into Hendrick’s Gin, and also Wild Fig and Pine Needles, which takes the experience to new heights.
As this cockatil is will only be enjoyed by a select few, the Hendrick’s Gin official 2018 summer cocktail selection will be available in all participating bars and restaurants, featuring the ever popular Hendrick’s Gin and Tonic, The Hendrick’s Gin Buck, The Hendrick’s Orchard Collins, and the Hendrick’s Gin Mule.
While these cocktails certainly won’t cost you forty thousand rand, once you’ve tasted them, you would probably agree that they should – concludes Stemmett with a wry smile.
