Much loved Cape-based restaurant chain, the Hussar Grill, has been bought by the Spur Corporation for a whopping R35 million. IN CASH.
You may wonder how many restaurants would cost you R35mil. 30? 20? 10? Nope, 6.
Spur Corporation chief executive officer, Pierre van Tonder, said the acquisition gives the group exposure to an upmarket specialist steakhouse chain. They plan on building on the Hussar brand’s name by extending into other regions of the Cape and ultimately, South Africa.
So if you are a Hussar lover, you may just find one popping up in a street near you.
