Located in Rondebosch, Sticks McGee is a pizza, burger & BBQ restaurant specialising in real food, artisan coffee, craft beer & local wine. The restaurant is opening up their space for all jazz musicians on three dedicated nights. From local talents to international acts and beginners, all are welcome at Sticks McGee to listen, learn and improve.
Monday – Jazz Night

The Monday Night Jazz Jam Session at Sticks McGee hosted by saxophonist, Dan Shout (www.danshout.co.za), features some of the top South African jazz musicians in the weekly house band, as well as incredible international visiting musicians and upcoming talent from local schools and universities. All jazz musicians are welcome to bring along their axe and sit in with the band.
Wednesday – Acoustic Jazz Quartet
19h30pm – no cover charge
A jazz quartet consisting of Alto Saxophone, piano, double bass and drums. All students at the University of Cape Town and all studying Jazz. We enjoy playing jazz standards together and love providing a relaxed atmosphere where one can sit back and enjoy your meal while listening to us take you through the ages of jazz. We always try to play a mixture of swing, latin and funk tunes and throughout the evening we change moods from fast driving, up tempo songs to the gentle sounds of a ballad.
Friday – Live Swing DJ
19h30pm – R20 cover charge
The Friday night Swing Café @ Sticks McGee centers around Electro Swing, a genre that fuses vintage style Swing, Jazz, Blues & Gospel melodies with modern day electronic beats. The line-up includes popular Cape Town DJ JP Silver accompanied by international saxophonist George Sax and other guest instrumentalists.
