Bem-vindo! Welcome to Café D’Mozambique in +258: A Taste of Mozambique

A new dining experience has arrived in South Africa, introducing diverse Mozambican cuisine and the joy of communal dining, where family and friends come together to enjoy a meal.

Situated at Design Quarter in Fourways, +258 A Taste of Mozambique has opened its doors and launched the first of five uniquely Mozambican menus, in an authentic food market-like environment.

Café D’Mozambique is a coffee shop that specialises in Mozambican coffees, pastries, and other delicacies, as well as exclusive coffee blends.

  • Mozambican pastries such as cassava cake, sweet potato cake, and yam cake, as well as beloved Portuguese pastries like pastel de nata and bolo de arroz, are also on the menu.

“As Mozambicans, we have always been passionate about our country, and the variety of cuisines available. We wanted to share this with the world and decided to bring Mozambique to South Africa, starting with the very best coffees and pastries through Café D’Mozambique,” says Joao Pereira, owner of +258 A Taste of Mozambique.

According to Pereira, Mozambican coffee is celebrated for its commitment to habitat restoration and the preservation of biodiversity. It relies on partnerships with rural communities and enables local farmers to benefit from training and access to resources and markets. Mozambique currently exports six coffee brands, each of which is available at Café D’Mozambique.

“Each week we will rotate the coffee blends and pastries, allowing customers the opportunity to explore our diverse offerings with each visit to Café D’Mozambique.  Over weekends, we will organise Coffee Rodizio – bottomless coffee for patrons,” adds Pereira.

Café D’Mozambique is a bakery with Portuguese influence, where bread, pastries, and other baked goods are baked fresh daily, using only the best recipes that have been cherished and passed down through generations.

Concludes Pereira, “We believe that life is better with a coffee in one hand, and a pastry in another and it is this philosophy that underpins Café D’Mozambique. We want to share with our patrons the heart and soul of our menus and give them a glimpse into our family traditions and generational recipes.

They look forward to welcoming you to an unforgettable dining experience.
