I’m very lucky. I get to eat things and talk about them so I often tell you guys about a new wine or sauce or chocolate or something that was nice. But for the first time in a long while I’ve been COMPLETELY blown away by a product review and the incredible service on offer.
Daily Dish – I applaud you.
Daily Dish launched in Cape Town and have now extended service to Gauteng. This is how it works:
- Choose your meal option: classic, low carb or vegetarian.
- Decide how many portions you want: 2 or 4. (prices at the bottom)
- All ingredients for 4 nights’ worth of meals are delivered on the Monday. Each is weighed out and packaged separately. Even the things that need to stay in the fridge versus those that can go in the pantry are in different coloured bags.
- You receive stunning recipe cards to help you cook, plus they help you make the dish on your own in the future.
- Each meal takes less than 20-30 minutes to make.
- EAT!
I was a bit sceptical at first. As someone who can cook, I was worried I wouldn’t like their food. And I was wrong. Each meal was delicious and not having to think about what to make for dinner was an absolute joy, as I certainly never have the time to go wander along the aisles. The flavour combinations were well thought through, and while they were easy to pull off (as everything is measured and planned for you) they aren’t necessarily easy to think up on the fly. Plus, there is zero wastage!
THE LOW-CARB MENU
Monday // Creamy Chicken in a Mushroom Sauce
From the perfectly portioned chicken, to the little vacuum-sealed bag of white wine for the sauce and the tub of double cream – I sat in the kitchen giggling at how easy it was. Within 18 minutes we had grilled chicken breasts topped with a creamy white wine and parsley mushroom sauce and green beans. Mmm.
Tuesday // Lamb Cutlets in a Mustard Sauce
This was the only portion that wasn’t quite big enough for us, but I had a sweet potato in the fridge and added it. As brussel spouts weren’t available, they were replaced with baby marrow – an example of just how fresh everything is. However, it was absolutely divine. Juicy lamb cutlets in a lemony mustard sauce. 15 minutes.
Wednesday // Tuna Sweet Potato Jackets
This meal completely shocked me, as I didn’t think it would be as nice as it was. Baked sweet potatoes (I did mine in the microwave, not the oven), topped with tuna, chopped onion, chilli, fresh coriander, plain yogurt, lime juice, salt and pepper! So. Freaking. Easy. And so freaking delicious. I have since made it again and added some tomato and avo – perfection.
Thursday // Shakshuka
Shakshuka is a Middle Eastern dish where you cook a base of chilli, tomato and spices, then drop eggs into little gaps in the sauce and cook them. And it’s the best. I make it quite often and the Daily Dish version didn’t disappoint! Cumin, garlic, chilli, paprika, peppers and tomato, four eggs, then topped with rich feta on a bed of Swiss Chard. Delish.
For someone who doesn’t know how to cook, but wants to learn – this is perfect. For someone who can cook, but doesn’t have the time to go out and shop and then prepare a full meal – this is perfect. I love that you can pause and resume your subscription weekly, and don’t have to pay far in advance. I love that they deliver everything at once. I love how exciting it is to try different, easy-tp-prepare but still interesting new meals. I love everything about Daily Dish.

Those Tuna Sweet Potato Jackets look amazing. How creative, colourful, delectable and nutritious is this creation that is rather quite simple to make. But then again, the flavour combinations of all of the above dishes sound incredible… This wanting to eat dinner at 9:30 in the morning thing could be a problem, lol 🙂
Creamy Chicken in a Mushroom Sauce makes drool over my keypads :'( that’s one of my favorite I’d die for
The Creamy Chicken in a Mushroom Sauce sounds absolutely divine. I would certainly enjoy that dish and every single other one too. love the concept of the Daily Dish!
They ALL sound so yummy but if I have to choose then I love the sound of the Chicken and Mushroom, and also the Shakshukka. I also make it, so would be keen to see if it stacks up to my version 🙂
