The recently released Lanzerac Chardonnay 2014 is the perfect full-bodied white wine to enjoy during these hot summer days. A Gold medal winner at this year’s Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards as well as a 4-star rated Platter wine, the grapes for this award-winning wine were sourced from seven different blocks from Lanzerac’s vineyards in the Jonkershoek Valley, varying in age from 10 to 22 years.
Being one of his favourites, Cellar Master Wynand Lategan describes the wine as showing prominent citrus aromas on the nose. This is followed by a complexity of flavours including lemon, clover, ginger and vanilla. On the palate the wine shows excellent balance between fruit, acidity and softness with a full body and lingering aftertaste. Ready to drink now, or if left in proper cellaring conditions will reach its peak in the next two to three years.
Enjoy, chilled, on its own or serve with mild seafood curries with a buttery sauce, fish cakes, chicken Caesar salad, or even peach and mango based salads. Available from most wine stores nationwide or directly from the Tasting Room at R95 per bottle.
