What better way to ensure mom doesn’t spend another Sunday in the kitchen, than to treat her to a lunch fit for a queen? Trees Restaurant in Cape Town is pulling out all the stops to make sure that this is the most memorable Mother’s Day yet, for only R348.00pp.
Centrally located in the heart of Cape Town, guests will be treated to a special menu from Michelin-trained Executive Chef Stefan Schmidt, allowing families to treat mom without anyone needing to lift a finger or worry about who is going to do the dishes.
Chef Stefan says, “We understand that this is often the only day of the year when moms have the day ‘off’ and families can really show their appreciation. We’ve designed a menu that will make sure no one leaves hungry – while also incorporating a few surprise elements, to really make the moms feel special.”
To ward off the late autumn chills, lunch will begin with a choice of two hearty soups – either split pea with mint and beef dumplings, or creamy butternut and coriander with herbed croutons. This will be followed by a choice of starters – either tea marinated chicken roulade, which will be served plated, accompanied by a Waldorf salad, pistachio soil and orange jelly, drizzled with a Fynbos dressing or smoked snoek and cucumber cannelloni with pickled exotic mushrooms and an apple-honey mustard dressing.
Guests will then move onto the main attraction – a buffet fit for royalty. With highlights including sticky citrus chicken, slow roasted lamb shoulder and the ‘catch of the day’ poached in a lemongrass and coconut broth – guests should try to keep space for roasted garlic potatoes and pea and ricotta filled gem squash on the side.
Ending the day on a sweet note, diners will be able to indulge in a decadent chocolate tiramisu pie, which will be served with white and dark chocolate, a crushed nut sprinkle and chunky raspberry dip accompanied by tea and coffee.
