As summer unfurls its vibrant colours, The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa in Constantia is opening its glorious gardens to the public on Sunday 24 November 2024, in a fundraising event in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
Guests are invited to explore the exquisite hotel gardens at their leisure, and enjoy the warm hospitality of The Liz McGrath Collection, which includes complimentary cup of tea and a freshly baked scone.
All proceeds of this annual event will be donated to St Luke’s Hospice, which provides specialised palliative care to people with life-limiting illnesses.
- St Luke’s Hospice services include professional home and in-patient ward nursing support, as well as psychosocial, spiritual and bereavement care to patients and their families throughout the greater Cape Town area.
Spread across nine acres and boasting magnificent views of the Table Mountain range, the gardens of The Cellars-Hohenort contain a myriad of delights. These include the rolling lawns, a structured garden with flowers in full bloom, water features and several ponds. Eco-zones within the gardens include the Herb, Vegetable and Citrus Gardens which grow fresh produce for the hotel kitchens, as well as a small vineyard.
Testament to a rich history, a shady forest section of the gardens boasts magnificent camphor trees dating back 300 years. Elsewhere, the Formal Rose Garden includes the Liz McGrath Rose, which was hybridised in 2003 to commemorate the 80th birthday of the late Mrs McGrath, the founder of The Liz McGrath Collection.
The gardens will be open between 11:00 and 17:00 on Sunday 24 November 2024. Tickets are subject to availability and may be bought on arrival at The Cellars-Hohenort at a donation of R100 per person (children under 12 years free), which includes a cup of tea and a scone, served on the shaded terrace or Hohenort lawns.
