Private Wine & Salt Pairing Dinners at Die Bergkelder

Salt aficionado Chef Craig Cormack has been travelling through Europe with Fleur du Cap sharing his salt and wine pairing expertise with wine lovers in Sweden and the Netherlands. Vibrant lunches and intimate dinners were hosted by Fleur du Cap to show off the unique pairings of wine, food and salt.

Guests were treated to a wine and salt experience from appetisers to desserts, expertly paired by Chef Craig. Starters were served on Himalayan salt blocks which impressed diners. The beef Carpaccio sprinkled with Kala Namak salt and paired with Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot proved to be one of the favourites.

These dinners and lunches were extremely successful with wine lovers and the media alike and created further exposure to both Fleur du Cap and the concept of salt pairings in key outlets.

“The feedback was overwhelming and exciting especially from the media. They were amazed by the “one of a kind” concept and enjoyed the experience. It made me realise why I am so passionate about this salt and wine journey,” says Chef Craig Cormack.

The restaurants where Fleur du Cap wine and salt lunches and dinners were hosted included Restaurant Fris in Haarlem, Restaurant De Luwte in Amsterdam, Restaurant Smaakmakers in Amersfoort, Netherlands and Restaurant Spicebrush in Apeldoorn.

The wine and salt tour was a very exciting project for Fleur du Cap, and Chef Craig Cormack is literally taking the world by storm with this intriguing concept.

In addition to these exclusive events, he regularly hosts private wine and salt pairing dinners with Fleur du Cap at Die Bergkelder, the mountain cellar cut deep into the Papegaaiberg on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Die Bergkelder also offers daily Fleur du Cap Wine and Salt tastings, from Mondays to Fridays between 09h00 and 17h30 and Saturdays between 09h00 and 15h30, cost R75 per person.
