The Protégé is back in full force giving up-and-coming bartenders the chance to shine!
After the huge success of last year’s events where more than 80 people turned up for each session, the public asked for another edition of The Protégé. After much planning, it’s coming back better than ever.
Join Surfa Rosa every Tuesday evening from 17h00 until 21h00 on Harrington’s Street from the 13th of March – 8th of May.
Last year, it was a showdown between the various proteges. This time around, things have changed slightly to allow select media to join the fun. Each week, protégés and media representatives receive mentoring and one on one training by a master bartender. This is followed by a shake-down from 19h00 where our skills are put to the test with the journalist competing against one of the protégés. Like with any duel, the winner will be decided by the loudest cheers of crowd.
If you want to join the fun, you can enter as one of four wild card entries. R100 gets you access to the master class, the speed round and if come out tops, you can battle the media representative serving a thirsty crowd.
In the end, the last protégé standing will have the opportunity to develop his or her skills at one of the top Cape Town bars with mentorship of an industry professional.
