Refugee Food Festival is a non-profit organization originating in Paris, France.
Born from the desire to celebrate World Refugee Day on 20 June, this citizen’s initiative is an annual project allowing restaurant owners to open their kitchens to refugee chefs. The first Refugee Food Festival, founded by the Food Sweet Food charity with the support of the UN Agency for Refugees, took place in Paris in June 2016.
Their aim is to change perceptions, integrate refugees into community and create a world of peace and equality for all.
You don’t need to travel to Paris to experience this wonderful event. This initiative has spread worldwide and we get to celebrate it right here in the Mother City.
From 4-9 June 2019, local restaurants will open their kitchens to refugee chefs who will design a range of dishes from their home country for brunch, lunch, dinner or snacks.
