On the 4th of February, Mondiall will be taking part in The Pink Table Project alongside partners Zomato and Delaire Graff wines hosting a 3 course dinner evening to raise funds for the fight against cancer.
An exciting Pink Menu has been curated by talented Head Chef, Stephen Mandes, and highlights ingredients known for their cancer fighting properties.
Ryan Matheson, founder of The Pink Table Project, launched the initiative last year (2016) in support of PinkDrive. He hopes to encourage more individuals to put their health first by adopting a clean diet, which would prevent up to 40% of Cancers.
3 Course Menu + Wine Pairing on World Cancer Day at Mondiall
Mondiall’s Head Chef, Stephen Mandes, welcomed the challenge to create a healthy yet delectable 3-course dining experience in support of Cancer Awareness. Learning more about the Pink Table Project at Mondiall last week, we also got to sample the menu that the restaurant will be offering on World Cancer Day (4 February 2017).
Starter: Compilation of raw and pickled vegetables
Charred brussel sprouts, roasted vine tomatoes, pickled butternut, sugar snap peas, roasted sweet potato and aubergine parcels create a feast of colours on the plate. The aubergine parcels were my highlight of this dish, and the variety of flavours and textures of each element adds a pleasant complexity to a meal that leaves you longing for more.
Main Course: Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon
The main event was a Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon which was pure magic. It was served with grilled artichokes, pea velouté and charred sugar snap peas, staying true to the cause with a touch of pink. This dish beautifully incorporates the signature smoked flavours Mandes achieves so well.
Dessert: Bowl of Fresh Berries
For dessert you can enjoy a Bowl of Fresh Berries with granola crumb, almond and vanilla spoom which offers a refreshingly light ending to a well-rounded meal.
Join the Mondiall Pink Dinner Party on the 4th of February. Please note booking is essential and reservations can be made by purchasing a ticket of R148 per person with 100% of the proceeds going towards powering South Africa’s first mobile PinkDrive Mammography Unit and PinkDrive Educational Unit.
The Pink Menu is available at R445 per person for the 3-course experience and may be accompanied by the Delaire Graff wine pairing for an additional R75. Kindly settle this amount with the restaurant on the evening of February 04th, 2017.
