I was invited to try the Signature Snack Platter at The Glasshouse last week.
Located in the Cape Milner Hotel, the restaurant features an amazing transparent glass ceiling – hence the name. Sophisticated and modern, the venue offers a lovely atmosphere to enjoy a drink at the bar or an intimate dinner with family, friends or a loved-one. The menu is small but designed very well; you will definitely find something that you will enjoy.
If a full-on dinner isn’t to your liking, they also have a snack platter on the menu that will do just the trick. It’s perfect to share for two (or to eat on your own if you feel particularly hungry)!
The snack platter (R130) includes chilli poppers, truffle & cheese croquettes as well as onion & potato bhadji’s. These are accompanied with a red paprika aioli, cucumber & garlic yoghurt & raspberry compote. The bhadji’s were a little too oily for my taste but the chilli poppers and croquettes were a delight. While the chilli poppers packed quite a punch, my absolute favourite were the truffle & cheese croquettes with a golden crust and melty centre.
If you join The Glasshouse on a Thursday, you will also receive two craft beers or two glasses of wine – which ever you prefer – along with your tapas platter for free.
P.S.: The chilli poppers nearly defeated me; they are quite hot!
