What are black truffles? Well, only the most expensive edible mushrooms in the world.
This internationally ‘black gold’, is scared and pricy and delightfully captivating in the way it enhances the flavor of food.
Anthonij Rupert Wines in Franschhoek, besides producing beautiful wines, is also the first estate in the country to cultivate and produce black Perigord truffles. These exceptional quality truffles are grown at their Altima Estate near Villiersdorp, where the cool climate conditions are perfectly suited for the cultivation of these rare delicacies since September 2010.
If you’re a black truffle enthusiast from Cape Town, you’ll be thrilled to know that Anthonij Rupert is launching exclusive truffle lunches for the culinary enthusiast.
These three-course lunches will be available every Friday and Saturday from 24 May to 20 July – annual truffle season. These lunches are kept to a maximum of ten guests to ensure exclusivity. And along with this star ingredient, guests will also experience some estate-raised Black Angus beef, paired with carefully selected wines. Each lunch is R950 per person and includes wine.
Anthonij Rupert’s black truffle harvest and truffle-infused butter and salt will be for sale at their Terra del Capo tasting room from June 2019.
