Celebrate summer in the Paarl winelands with an enticing new menu that is now served at The Bistro at Brookdale Estate.
Executive Chef Gary Coetzee brings to the table a fresh take on global favourites with a nod to classic bistro dishes presented in a contemporary style.
The Bistro is open for lunch from Wednesdays to Sundays and serves dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. From 1 November and throughout the summer season, it will also open for lunch on Tuesdays and dinner on Wednesdays.
- Start with a light and refreshing Gazpacho; indulge in Twice-baked cheese soufflé served with a Waldorf Salad; or your choice of three flavourful Tartare dishes – Smoked venison, Beef tartare, or Trout tartare. Charcoal-fired prawns with African riso and peri-peri may be enjoyed as a starter, or as main course along with a selection of innovative side dishes to order that include Burnt corn, cherry tomato, pickled ginger, sesame and spring onion, or a Broccoli and avocado salad, to name but a few.
- Main course options include Line-caught pan-seared Fish Du Jour; Confit leg of duck and crisp breast; or vegetarian Miso aubergine with gingered carrot and cashew purée and sorghum salad. Wholesome red meat dishes include Tandoori lamb rump with baba ghanoush salad; Venison loin; Beef fillet; or Char-grilled pork chop.
- End on a sweet note with Cape Malay Koesister with kulfi ice cream and pistachio crémeux; Brookdale Snickerbar; Banoffee tart; or Basque cheesecake with roasted Chenin grapes from the surrounding vineyard, served with vine leaf gelato.
The dining experience is complemented by an exciting wine list that not only showcases the estate’s Brookdale and Mason Road ranges, but also includes other interesting wines from the Paarl region and beyond.
Adjacent to The Bistro, the Tasting Room is open daily from 11:00 to 17:00 (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays – but also opening on Tuesdays from 1 November ), offering visitors the opportunity to taste wines grown on the estate, vinified by talented winemaker, Kiara Scott Farmer.
