Cape Town’s favourite ice cream company Unframed Ice Cream unveiled its new store design inside of the V&A Food Market at the Waterfront – the first major announcement in its new branding rollout, and just following the release of their 24 new flavours to celebrate this summer season.
Unframed’s new branding was created in partnership with local design group STUDIO MUTI, an ultra-talented South African studio that is very present in the international graphic scene. Based in Cape Town, the team of illustrators and designers are passionate about producing original and inspiring artwork, from lettering to icons, digital painting to animation adding Unframed Ice Cream to their impressive portfolio including Nike, Google and Forbes, just to name a few.
We want our customers to have a warm and fun welcoming this season, and the new store design reflects our African identity with a colourful, vibey, and modern flair. As we entertain customers from all over the world this season, we want to make it clear we’re putting South African ice cream on the global map. – Yann Rey, owner of Unframed
Unframed’s new store design offers customers a welcoming, refreshing look along with a way to stand out at the bustling V&A Food Market at the Waterfront – a much loved destination for locals and tourists alike. Unframed’s new store design is an homage to colourful African prints with wild ice cream-esque shapes, exotic fruits, and African animals.
Unframed Ice Cream is known for its artisanal, locally produced approach to perfectly textured ice cream and particularly famous for its vegan offerings that have drawn international recognition. It’s also well-known for eschewing traditional ice cream parlour design formats like dripping ice cream cone statues or 1950’s era candy striped uniforms.
