It’s obvious that you need to know how to braai to claim the title of ‘Braai Master’, but the secret to being crowned Ultimate Braai Master is knowing how to maximize flavours – a trick that flavour fans learnt with dazzling combinations of Robertsons spices at the Pavilion Mall on Saturday, 25 April with the Robertsons Ultimate Braai Master ‘What’s Your Combination’ Challenge.
Consumers were invited to spin the Robertsons Spice Wheel to see if their spice unlocked the vault and put them in line to win amazing prizes. A Robertsons Spice purchase put them in the VIP queue and got them a shot at spinning the wheel – and buying at least one each from the Robertsons blue, red, green and brown ranges virtually guaranteed them a win! Flavour fans who didn’t get a chance to step up to the wheel, were still offered a chance to play. The Robertsons team served up delicious samples of food and gave audience members the chance to guess the right spice combination that brought out the sample’s amazing flavour, for chances to win prizes, too!
Four celebs also took up the challenge on the day, vying for victory in the Robertsons Ultimate Braai Master ‘What’s Your Combination’ Challenge and trying to unlock amazing flavour combinations of their own. Lorna Maseko, Sureshnie Rider, Siv Ngesi and Amon Mokoena were paired with a partner – just like they do it on Ultimate Braai Master – and their creations were judged by audience members. The fans’ favourite was Sureshnie Rider from 5FM and her partner Mavi Ngcobo from Daily Sun with their awesome Robertsons combination.
Laureen Mxoli, brand manager: Robertsons Spices says that the challenge is all about flavour. “We want our consumers to really see what the spices across our red, green, blue and brown ranges can do – and what happens when you pair them up to create entirely new combinations,” she says. “Adding some celebs, an Ultimate Braai Master challenge and the chance to win amazing prizes to the mix makes it even better!”
