In the heart of the Elgin Valley, nestled between vineyard rows, orchards of apples and pears with an amphitheatre of the Kogelberg and Hottentots Holland mountain ranges, lies the home of Elgin Vintners on the Elgin Orchards farm which dates back to 1890.
Only an hour east of Cape Town, the high-lying cool-climate Elgin district, cradled in the ancient sandstone Hottentots Holland mountains, was traditionally an apple-growing region.
Now award-winning wine showing exceptional poise, finesse and elegance are produced here, with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Shiraz doing particularly well in this later-ripening, cooler terroir.
Due to vineyards elevated between 260 and 600 meters above sea level and the unique terroir, the grapes ripen on the vines for longer than local in-land and many of the world’s most famous wine regions.

4-Star Country House Accommodation
Escape into country living and feel like the lord and lady of the manor when you check in to the 4-Star Elgin Vintners Country House for a luxurious getaway. Built in 1927 to a Sir Herbert Baker design, the Country House has been restored to its Victorian glory, with all the modern comforts. Accommodating up to 10 guests in luxury suites, the Country House is child-friendly and gives guests the run of the property, including the swimming pool, tennis court and braai area.
Each suite is furnished with hypo-allergenic linen, down feather duvets, plush pillows and king size beds which can be converted to twins. DStv, wall-panel heaters, hairdryers, safety deposit boxes and coffee stations are available in all suites.
