Cape Town’s favourite market, Bay Harbour Market, has seen a phenomenal uptake in its child focused Saturday mornings. Dubbed ‘Young Saturday’s’, the weekly family affair sees awesome, engaging activities for kids aged three years to 9 years.
Each week sees a new , free activity for the kids as well as a recurring appearance by the face painter and clown to add to the festivities of the morning. Young Saturday’s, not only provides some creative play for kids but also allows parents a gap to grab a coffee and some free time to browse the stalls.
While Bay Harbour Market is very much a family-friendly environment where no area is off limits to kids – we like to think of the entire market as one giant playground! – we know kids would enjoy some age-specific activities that also free parents up for some stress- and guilt-free shopping,. – says General Manager Sandra Stroebel.
Highlights in December include a recycling sculpture activity as well as Magic by Dev, an interactive comedian-come-magician who guarantees awe and laughter.
Specific kids’ stalls include Lucky Duck Toys, J.Beenz funky kids’ fashion, hair braiding, henna tattoos, Cynthia’s for hip African-inspired dresses, as well as a range of healthy juices and smoothies and other yummy snacks.
Kids eat Free Special
To add to the festivities, local market breakfast hotspot, BonAmie is offering a ‘kids eat free’ special to all parents ordering breakfast on a Saturday.
