Dash is the elegant, fine dining restaurant located at the Queen Victoria Hotel in the Portswood Precinct at the Waterfront, Cape Town and is a treasure worth discovering.
Dash Chef Sam Wasserman has focused her cleverly balanced, French-inspired menu on the unique flavours of each locally sourced ingredient. “I delight in preparing special dishes using local seasonal produce so that we always ensure freshness and authentic flavours and, of course, it is a real passion of mine to design and present a plate beautifully.” The restaurant prides itself on giving the best and freshest ingredients top billing on the menu.
Echoing this and to chime with the Cape’s seasons, the menu at Dash changes every few weeks, when new ingredients become available. Of course, no fine dining restaurant can claim such without a very good wine list and certainly Dash adds a lot more than a just a dash of appeal with its impressive and exceptionally chosen wines.
The whole fine dining experience at Dash is intimate – with only 36 seats – and is rather special. The walls boast some remarkable artwork, kindly loaned by the restaurant’s prestigious gallery neighbour, Everard Read, and this is also changed every few months with new work by renowned local artists, such as Beezy Bailey and John Meyer.
Dash’s regular diners are welcomed early so that they may relax in the bar area for a cocktail and take in impressive views of Table Mountain and the city.
