Tintswalo Atlantic has taken the lead with the introduction of an exciting new fine dining vegan tasting menu to cater for the growing demand from diners for a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, following the trend to move away from consuming animal products.
Tintswalo Atlantic Executive Chef Guy Clark says he enjoyed the challenge to not only source replacements for certain animal based products such as gelling agents and eggs, but also to explore the surrounding fynbos and beach landscape for interesting and suitable ingredients to make their way onto the menu.
The result is a fresh new take on vegan dishes that burst with colour and flavour as one of few fine dining tasting menu options for vegans in Cape Town. The four-course tasting menu (R650 pp) is available for lunch or dinner to tables of a minimum of two vegan diners and it has to be pre-booked.
The Vegan Menu at Tintswalo Atlantic
Diners will first be spoiled with an Amuse Bouche of Beetroot wonton, ginger & apple mousse, followed by a soup of Carrot & ginger, gochugaru and micro greens. The starter of Savoury cashew ‘cheese’ cake with red onion jam and micro greens, leads to a refresher of either Granny Smith apple or Cinnamon & pineapple. Main course of Dukkah crusted polenta is served with rooibos poached sweet potato, parsnip & turmeric cream, heirloom carrots, shimeji mushroom, charred corn and a rooibos & lemon jus. Ending on a high note, dessert is a delicious creation of Banana parfait with nut brittle, toasted coconut flakes, berry gel and summer berries.
The new menu may be primarily aimed at vegans, but can also be enjoyed by meat-eaters on #MeatFreeMondays, or those simply wanting to try something a little lighter and different. The menu is served in Tintswalo Atlantic’s panoramic restaurant, with breathtaking views of Hout Bay Harbour, the dramatic Sentinel mountains peak, and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. On warm days, guests can sit on the al fresco terrace, right by the water to make the most of the beautiful surroundings and breathe in the fresh sea air.
