Jack Black Howls in Winter with its Wolves of Winter Oatmeal Stout

Winter is here, and Jack Black Brewery is ready to warm you up from the inside out with the highly anticipated return of their seasonal release Wolves of Winter Oatmeal Stout.

Launching on Friday 14 June, this robust and delicious brew is sure to become your new winter favourite.

The name Wolves of Winter is a nod to the Jack Black brewing team, known as the “wolf pack.”

  • Just like wolves, the brewers work together in a close-knit unit, ensuring the quality and consistency of every batch. “We’re thrilled to unleash the Wolves of Winter once again,” says the brewing team. “This fan-favourite brings back the warmth of winter with every sip, thanks to its rich roasted malts, perfectly balanced by creamy oatmeal and a touch of hops.”

Each sip delivers a complex and heartwarming experience, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and licorice. The addition of rolled oats creates a smooth, creamy mouthfeel that perfectly complements the roasted malt character.

When asked about the ideal winter activity to enjoy with Wolves of Winter, the Jack Black brewing team recommends curling up by the fireplace with good company and a hearty meal. The beer’s rich complexity also makes it a perfect pairing for any winter stew or roast.

Speaking of perfect pairings, Jack Black Ambassador Chef Ollie has created a Wolves of Winter-inspired gourmet burger. Chef Ollie says, “This one is inspired by JG Melon in New York, and of course Wolves of Winter. Super simple—it’s a cheeseburger with red onion and bacon and no sauce because it’s all about the flavour and the quality of the meat. I make mine on the braai, but you can do it on a hot skillet too.” His creation enhances the rich, hearty flavours of the beer and, just like at JG Melon, is served with Heinz ketchup on the side.

The Wolves of Winter Oatmeal Stout is a seasonal release, so beer lovers need to act fast to get their hands on it. Those who attended the Capital Craft Beer Festival in Pretoria on 15 June were able to get an early taste of the brew. From 14 June, it will be available at select retailers across South Africa, as well as online and at the Jack Black Taproom.

The pricing of bottles for this year’s release is as follows:

  • 4-Pack: R104.99

  • Case: R579.99
