Laborie welcomes summer with a smile

As warm days and long evenings beckon, Laborie Wine Farm in Paarl is welcoming the summer season with an exciting new selection of venues and offerings.

A longstanding favourite, Harvest restaurant continues to serve up scrumptious locally-sourced and sustainable fare and Matthew Gordon’s new summer menu is the perfect excuse to spend a lazy day on the terrace, sipping on some multi-award winning Laborie 2010 Blanc de Blancs MCC. This bubbly has received its fair share of news headlines of late, recently being chosen by SAA as its MCC of choice, winning the MCC of the year trophy and a listing on Business Class, as well the only MCC to win a Double Gold at Veritas – it’s a stunner!

A new and exciting addition to the farm is Taste at Laborie. This wonderful terrace-with-a-view which leads off from a fresh, revamped Cellar Door, offers rustic charcuterie plates and tapas style dishes at affordable prices and is framed by beautiful vineyards and an enviable view of Paarl Rock.

For the Laborie fans looking for something a little quirky and different, look no further than the new craft beer and tapas venue, Bar di Bar. This retro addition boasts a 1970’s Volkswagen Surfer Kombi as a mobile bar, situated inside the premises. A real jukebox pumps out nostalgic tunes while guests explore a wide selection of craft beers on tap. Warning: one might lose track of time here.

And when the day draws to a close, the newly-renovated Jonkershuis serves as the perfect option for a night spent in the winelands. Sleeping six, and tastefully decorated in whites, creams, blues and beiges, this high-ceilinged gem adjoins a sparkling blue swimming pool and is running a special offer of R2,750 per night until June 2015.

Having being awarded top honours in the 2014 Klink Awards in the Great Food and Excellent Wine category, as voted the public, as well as taking home the Supernova Award as the most supported wine farm overall, the team at Laborie is determined to uphold these excellent standards this summer season.

Our team is overjoyed at this incredible recognition, by the public, for all our hard work. We are excited to repay our loyal customers this season and invite them to try out all the new and exciting offerings at the farm. – Laborie Brand Manager, Kerryn Lancaster.

Monika Elias, Publisher of The Wine Tourism handbook, organizers of the Klink awards also supports the idea that this recent success “says that a winery’s most important stakeholder – their customer – thinks they are doing something very right.”
