[Recipe] Try the Fried Chicken Hot Honey Burger by Jack Black Taproom

The Seasonal Release Lumberjack Amber Ale by Jack Black is here and the taproom is celebrating with a killer burger that’s truly worthy of a pairing with this full-throttle amber ale. 

They’ve joined forces with their Taproom Manager, Tyrone, who developed this recipe for you all to enjoy at home while sippin’ on some ice-cold Lumberjack’s.

“I decided to create a Fried Chicken Hot Honey Burger, which pairs perfectly with our seasonal release, The Lumberjack Amber Ale. This pairing is ideal because the Lumberjack’s notes of caramel and toasted bread provide a slight sweetness, while its lingering hoppy bitterness complements the spice from the chili flakes, the sweetness of the honey, the creaminess of the sriracha butter and the crunch from the shredded lettuce”.

Fried Chicken Hot Honey Burger

Hot Honey

Ingredients:

  • Honey – 1L
  • Chili Flakes – 100g
  • Apple Cider Vinegar – 15ml

Directions:

  1. Add honey and chili flakes to a saucepan and bring to a simmer
  2. Remove from heat and add apple cider vinegar
  3. The longer you let the chili flakes infuse, the hotter it will get. You can strain the flakes or leave them in for added heat

Sriracha Butter

Ingredients:

  • Butter – 200g
  • Sriracha Sauce – 100g
  • Sea Salt

Directions:

  1. Slightly melt the butter
  2. Add the butter, sriracha sauce, and sea salt to a blender
  3. Mix until creamy

Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Ingredients:

  • Flour Mix (flour, smoked paprika, salt)
  • Chicken, seasoned with salt and pepper
  • Buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Butterfly your chicken breast and season well
  2. Coat in the flour mix, then dip in buttermilk and coat again in the flour mix
  3. Fry in oil until golden brown

Burger Build

Ingredients:

  • Brioche Bun
  • American Mustard
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Buttermilk Chicken
  • Hot Honey
  • Sriracha Butter

Assemble your burger with a generous spread of sriracha butter on the bun, a layer of shredded lettuce, the crispy buttermilk chicken, a drizzle of hot honey and a touch of American mustard.
