The Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch has been nominated for a Klink Award at this year’s ceremony. The awards encourages wine-lovers, their families and friends to discover the wealth of activities and experiences beyond the cellar door that the Western Cape wine region has to offer; then to vote for their favourite 15.
The Porcupine Walk
The Porcupine Trail Walk at Waterford Wine Estate is a 2 hour guided walk that leaves from the Cellar Door and takes guests through the beautiful Fynbos Fields & the Vineyards. You will be walking amongst the 2.5m Wild Protea Bushes on the way to the Poplar Tree Grove, alongside the lightly flowing Pecan Stream where you then follow the Porcupine Trail into the Wild Olive grove valley.
Here you come across 200 year old trees and see the caves of both the Porcupines and the Lynx that are resident on Waterford Estate. Finally you come across a table set under the Old Oak Tree on the edge of the Chardonnay Vineyard overlooking the Chardonnay Dam. While looking down the valley with Table Mountain in the distance you get to taste your chosen wines with a light snack, before walking back down the valley to the Winery.
A backpack for the walk will be provided (1 between 2 guests). This will include your chosen wine with a light snack. Guests are advised to bring their most comfortable boots / shoes as well as a sun hat and sunscreen.
