If you’re in need of a cozy and indulgent date night, Harringtons Cocktail Lounge’s Wednesday evening with Steenberg Estate wines is a perfect choice.
For just R300 per person, you’re treated to a three-course dinner with exquisite wines that beautifully complement each dish.
Appetizers
The evening starts with a welcoming glass of Steenberg wine, setting the tone for what’s to come. As you sip, you can’t help but get excited for the upcoming tasting of four other wines, each unique in its flavor profile. I opted for the Mushroom Arancini as an appetizer, and the earthy, creamy risotto balls paired so elegantly with the sundried tomato aioli. The tangy sweetness of the aioli enhanced the rich mushroom flavors, creating a balanced start that left me eager for more.
The Vegetable Springroll was a delightful surprise as well, crisp and golden on the outside, with a flavourful medley of vegetables tucked inside. Each bite offered a satisfying crunch, which gave way to a tender, perfectly seasoned filling. The star of the show was the mango chutney dip—its sweet and tangy profile paired beautifully with the savory springroll, adding a refreshing burst of flavor.
Mains
For my main, I went with the Seared Line Fish. The fish was beautifully cooked, and the corn and green bean succotash added a vibrant crunch, while the creamy lemon butter sauce brought a touch of indulgence. The sautéed baby bok choy provided a slight bitterness, which balanced out the buttery richness of the dish and kept each bite exciting.
The Flame Grilled Ribeye was a standout dish for those craving something heartier. The steak was perfectly cooked, with a delicious char from the grill that locked in the meat’s rich, savory juices. Paired with a silky cauliflower purée, the dish balanced indulgence and elegance. The purée was creamy yet light, offering a subtle sweetness that complemented the ribeye’s robust flavors.
Dessert
For dessert, the Eaton Mess was a standout finale. The combination of meringue, passionfruit, and sweet cherry curd was a delightful play of textures and flavors. The cream was light and airy, while the fresh berries and toasted macadamia nuts added a satisfying crunch, making each spoonful a celebration of sweetness and freshness.
Every dish is thoughtfully paired with Steenberg’s finest wines, and the friendly ambiance makes it all the more perfect for an intimate night out. If you’re looking to treat yourself to a midweek escape, this is it! Book your table now.
